High above Carmel Valley at 1700 feet,
there is an energy that radiates from the land and the majestic white
oaks. This energy refreshes and soothes the creatures that live amongst
it. The energy revitalizes the body, and is why our family chose to make
this place called Tassajara in Carmel Valley our home. This is truly one
of the most remarkable places on the Monterey Peninsula and in California
for growing lavender.
Our Philosophy for farming is
harmony. The plants, the soil, and the creatures all work
together to create a vitality that not only supports life, but
enhances it. On our lavender farm, we are committed to
understanding and incorporating organic and bio-dynamic methods
into growing lavender. Read more by clicking here.
The weather in Carmel Valley is
ideally suited for growing lavender. Lavender grows well in the
hot dry weather common to Carmel Valley, and in particular,
Tassajara.
This Year our small farm has
blessed us with a harvest of dried lavender buds and steam
distilled essential oils and hydrosols! These are used for aromatherapy, dried
lavender bunches, dried
lavender buds, sachets, and fine soaps
and lotions.

Harmony with our environment is a
principal motivation on our farm. Watch my video of a wild bee
swarm that visits our farm. Included is a discussion of how
pesticides, including synthetic pheromone pesticides can
inadvertantly harm these delicate creatures.
